The Online Academy of Irish Music is pleased to offer a series of free sample lessons from the full spectrum of courses and tutors availble at OAIM. These free lessons will give you an insight into our online learning system for Irish music & song and will hopefully tempt you to come back for more.

Bouzouki Accompaniment
- Billy introduces the rudiments of Bouzouki playing in Irish music. He demonstrates and talks about chords, counter melodies, strumming and rhythm. This is a lesson for beginners of the bouzouki. Billy teaches an entire course aimed at the beginner bouzouki player.
- In these lessons Brian presents the rudiments of Bodhrán playing to the beginner. Join him as he beats out the rhythms of the jig and the reel in his 12 week course Bodhrán Basics.

- Mikie teaches the tune 'The Hag At the Churn' on Uilleann Pipes & 'The Wandering Minstrel' on Whistle.

Ballydesmond Polka
- This lesson teaches the "Ballydesmond Polka" and introduces the 'cut'. Dáire's course is suitable for those who have a basic understanding of the accordion. If you are familiar with the scales of C major, D major and G major, and already have a few tunes learnt in the Irish traditional style, then this is the course for you!
- In this introductory lesson to Muireann's course on 'Traditional English Language Song', she teaches the wonderful song 'Love is Pleasing', phrase by phrase, verse by verse. This lesson is suitable for all levels of singers.

The Road to Prizon
The Lobster
- In the first lesson, Ernestine introduces her course 'Concertina Foundations'. She teaches the polka 'The Road to Prizon' slowly phrase by phrase, later demonstrating how to incorporate simple grace-notes into the tune. The second lesson is more advanced, taken from her course 'Concertina Skills'. More emphasis is placed not technique and variation in this course.

The Fair Haired Boy
- Majella teaches the lovely jig 'The Fair Haired Boy' in this lesson. She breaks down the ornamentation of the tune and also focuses on variation. This lesson is geared at intermediate / advanced flute players. Majella is tutor on the course 'Fleadh Tunes for the Flute: Dance Music and Slow Airs'.

- This lesson teaches the "Boyne Hunt" and introduces the 'triplet'. This Banjo Technique course is aimed at the improving banjo player who has already mastered the basics of the instrument. Paddy Cummin's introduces a wide array of banjo techniques in his series of twelve lessons.
