Learn how to accompany some of Irelands best known folk songs using the simplest of chord patterns. Jon discusses various aspects of accompaniment on the guitar: strumming patterns, finger plucking techniques, the use of smooth chord transitions, hammer-ons, walk ups and descending chord patterns. Most of the emphasis is on the guitar accompaniment rather than vocal technique.

This is the first introductory lesson of the course 'Popular Irish Pub Songs'. Jon will teach the well known Irish song 'Will Ye Go Lassie Go' and will demonstrate basic guitar chords to accompany the song. The focus of this lesson on will be on how to use a finger picking accompaniment.
In this lesson Jon will teach the well known Irish song 'Spancil Hill'. He will demonstrate basic guitar chords to accompany the song and will discuss how to bring out the root note and the 5th note in the strumming patterns.
'The Lakes of Pontchartrain' is the song featured in this tutorial. In it Jon will show how to incorporate descending chord progressions into the accompaniment. he will also demonstrate and discuss the use of transition chords.
In this lesson Jon will teach the well known song 'The Wild Rover'. He continues with his study of chord transitions.
'Dirty Old Town' is the song taught by Jon in this lesson. In it, Jon will introduce the hammer-on technique. This technique makes the guitar sound more interesting, softens the transition between chords and brings out the melody of the song.
In this lesson Jon will teach the song 'Fiddler's Green'. Jon will continue to look at chord transitions and will also look at using both 'up' and 'down' strokes in the basic strumming pattern.
This lesson teaches the song 'The Spanish Lady'. Jon continues to look at strumming patterns and also demonstrates how to incorporate descending chord progressions into the songs accompaniment.
In this lesson Jon teaches the popular song 'Whiskey in the Jar'. He continues his study of smooth chord progressions and the use of the hammer-on technique.
In this lesson Jon teaches the song 'Galway Bay'. He shows how to play 'walk-ups' between chords and also how to play a melodic intro and breaks between verses.
'Foggy Dew' is the song taught in this lesson. He continues his study on how to pluck a melodic rift to be used as a break or an intro to the song. He also discusses vocals and phrasing in this lesson.
In this lesson Jon will teach the song 'The Cliffs of Duneen'. He will focus on how to use a finger plucking style to accompany this ballad.
The famous song 'The Red Rose Cafe' will be taught in this lesson. Jon will focus on chords in this class.
In this final lesson, Jon will teach the song 'The Parting Glass'.
