Traditional Song (English Language)
Most of the songs taught will be from the Irish tradition but there will also be a few songs from the English and Scottish folk song tradition.
There will be a mixture of well known and more unusual songs. Themes will include songs of emigration and exile, love songs and humorous songs.
Along with the teaching of the songs, attention will also be paid to the following aspects of vocal technique: tone, breathing, ornamentation, phrasing and increasing vocal strength and range.
Is this course aimed at a suitable level for me?
This course is suitable for all singers, from beginners to advanced. The level of difficulty of the songs will increase as the course progresses.

Tutor: Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh
Muireann is the lead singer with traditional music group, Danú She released her solo album 'Daybreak: 'Fáinne an Lae' in 2006 to great acclaim. In 2008 she recorded "Dual", a collaborative project with Julie Fowlis exploring the links between Irish and Scots Gaelic music and song.
