This short course is an invitation into Christy’s home, Doolin Music House, where he entertains people all year round. It is a rare gift to be able to open this invitation to everyone all over the world, to get a taste of real Ireland, wherever you are. So pull up a chair, grab a cup of tea and your tin whistle and listen to Christy regale you with stories that will warm your heart.
Course Structure
Tin Whistle Doolin Style is a trip down memory lane with the legendary whistler Christy Barry. OAIM were invited into Doolin Music House to record this 5-part course. In the intro lesson, Christy talks candidly about the tradition, his home town of Ennistymon and the learning process of traditional music back in the day! He then goes on to teach the two tunes that he is most famous for, Christy Barry’s Jigs 1 and 2. He also teaches two fine reels that have been viewed over one million times on Youtube: these reels are ‘The Temple Mount’ and ‘The Premier’. These tune lessons are all about feeling, lift and lilt.
Join Christy as he takes you through these tunes and through the culture, his personal history and our shared tradition.
Sheet Music and Mp3s available to Download for each Tune
